Libraries Receive New Books Through the Partnership Between Library Country and UKRSIBBANK
Libraries in Bakhmach and Bobrovytsia (Chernihiv region), Artsyz (Odesa region), Samar and Pavlohrad (Dnipropetrovsk region) have received new books thanks to a joint initiative by the Library Country Charitable Foundation and UKRSIBBANK.
UKRSIBBANK provided financial support for a fundraising campaign to supply five libraries with book collections of 37 titles each. The bank’s employees also contributed to the initiative through personal donations.
The libraries have already received books from Ukrainian publishers, including Old Lion Publishing House, Nash Format, Belka, Fabula, Portal, and others. The new titles will enrich the libraries’ collections and become available to their readers.
In addition to the fundraising campaign, the partners organised a meeting between UKRSIBBANK employees and Ukrainian writer Tamara Horikha Zernia. Participants discussed her books Daughter, The Principle of Intervention, and The Whisperer, the stories of their characters, and how literature helps us make sense of the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Among the participants were bank employees from Donetsk region. During the discussion of Daughter, a novel set in Donetsk at the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, participants also shared their personal experiences of life in eastern Ukraine, parts of which are currently under temporary Russian occupation.
Another meeting with the UKRSIBBANK team focused on modern libraries. The discussion explored how their role in local communities is changing, what new formats of engagement they are developing, and why supporting libraries means more than simply adding new books to their collections. It also means creating opportunities for learning, communication, and shared activities.
